The eight-time MLA from Kanakapura taluk will take oath along with four deputy CMs and half a dozen ministers, according to initial reports. A final picture will emerge by Monday evening.
The CLP which met in the presence of AICC general secretaries KC Venugopal, RS Surjewala and Jairam Ramesh, first adopted a resolution authorising the party high command to choose its leader. The CLP took a brief break after that to help senior leaders hold a brief meeting in the CM’s chamber.
When the CLP reconvened, Siddaramaiah, also the outgoing CLP leader, proposed Shivakumar’s name as the new leader and the same was endorsed by senior leader G Parameshwara.

A Congress delegation including Shivakumar, Siddaramaiah and the AICC leaders later met governor Thaawarchand Gehlot and staked the party’s claim to form the government.
Shivakumar will visit Delhi on Monday to meet the AICC leaders including Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge to finalise the list of persons to be inducted as Dy CMs and ministers in the first instalment, sources close to the CLP leader said. The second round of induction may take some time, they added.
One Congress source said Priyank Kharge, MB Patil, Satish Jarkiholid and BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan may get to join the Cabinet as Dy CMs. One group is pushing the name of Parameshwara for Speaker’s post as the incumbent UT Khader is keen on becoming a minister. The AICC may clear the name of Dr Yatindra Siddaramaiah to join the Cabinet as a first step to remove any hurt feelings in Siddaramaiah.
