Times News NetworkBhubaneswar: CM Mohan Charan Majhi has dismissed an OAS officer from service for his alleged involvement in corruption, especially irregularities in land administration when he was additional tehsildar of Bhubaneswar, a govt statement said.Chittaranjan Pilla had served as additional tehsildar in Bhubaneswar from 2019-2022 and later joined as deputy collector in Jagatsinghpur. Evidence of irregularities in several of his decisions had surfaced during his tenure in Bhubaneswar. Several of Pilla’s decisions related to land matters were investigated by senior departmental officials and the investigation clearly revealed various irregularities, the govt said.The CM has been directing the adoption of a zero-tolerance policy against corruption and has repeatedly said that no corrupt officer will be spared.The state vigilance had arrested Pilla, when he was posted in Jagatsinghpur, in December 2022 for possession of disproportionate assets, which he could not account for satisfactorily and unravelled several movable and immovable assets beyond his known sources of income.Pilla joined govt service as a junior clerk in Feb 1993 at Patnagarh tehsil. He was selected to Odisha Revenue Service in 2018 and joined as assistant collector at Boudh and continued there till 2019. In Oct, 2019 he joined as additional tehsildar, Bhubaneswar and in Oct 2022, he was selected to OAS and joined as deputy collector (land acquisition) in Jagatsinghpur. From there he was transferred to Kalahandi and was under suspension.
