Kolkata: A stand-off between some parents and St Lawrence School authorities was resolved after cops stepped in on Wednesday. The parents accused the school of withholding ICSE report cards on Wednesday until students paid for alleged damage to property caused two months ago. The students were finally given the report cards without having to pay anything. The parents protested for over an hour. Many parents, whose sons appeared for the ICSE exam, received a message on Tuesday to collect the results on Wednesday. “When we arrived at the school, parents were asked to stay outside while our children were asked to pay Rs 500 or Rs 1,000 as penalty for property damage or else the mark sheet would not be handed over,” said Malkeet Singh, a parent.Bidisha Saha, another parent, said, “No one was there to give a proper answer, so we called the police.”TOI tried to get a reaction from the school authorities, but principal Fr M Benny Thomas could not be reached.
