KOLKATA: A civic volunteer, attached to the Sealdah Traffic Guard, was reportedly assaulted by a biker, and his friends, in the Palmer Bazar area when he and a sergeant stopped the accused for not wearing a helmet. Even as the rider protested, he waited until the seizure formalities were underway to call his friends to the spot. Soon, a group of youths arrived and attacked Molla. Despite the physical assault, the traffic team managed to retain the bike though the accused fled.Molla, who sustained injuries, was taken to NRS Medical College, where he was treated and subsequently discharged. An FIR was registered at the Entally PS and a manhunt was launched for the accused. .
