Following Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s counter-attack on Rahul Gandhi, the Congress party launched a scathing attack on her on Wednesday, claiming that she is a “missing minister” who remains absent during working hours and only surfaces when the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha poses questions.Pawan Khera, the head of the party’s media department, further alleged that the economy has currently become ensnared in a whirlpool due to the flawed policies of the Modi government. Earlier, on Tuesday, Finance Minister Sitharaman had hit back at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, stating that since 2014, “the government has been serving every section of society and every sector through its policies and initiatives.” In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, she responded to Rahul Gandhi’s allegations by asking, “Are the 58 crore Jan Dhan accounts meant for Adani or Ambani? Who are the 57 crore Mudra loan accounts meant for?”On Tuesday, while targeting the BJP-led central government in his parliamentary constituency of Raebareli, Rahul Gandhi had warned that an economic storm was brewing in the country and that inflation would continue to rise until the current government is replaced. Taking aim at the Finance Minister, Khera told reporters, “Ministers in the Modi government remain missing during working hours and only surface to respond to Rahul Gandhi. They seem to wake up only when Rahul Gandhi asks a question. In this very vein, the country’s Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, tweeted last night, enumerating the achievements associated with Jan Dhan accounts and the Mudra Scheme.”
