Motihari: The Muffasil police on Sunday arrested Robin Kumar, said to be boyfriend of Rimi Kumari, a third year student of Motihari Engineering College (MEC), who had allegedly died by suicide by hanging inside her hostel room of the college on May 21.Principal of the MEC, Navneet Kumar, told the police that when the girl`s room door was broken in the afternoon she was found sitting unconscious on a chair. He denied that she had hanged herself. She was taken to a private nursing home by students where she could not be saved. However, the SHO of Muffasil police station Priyanka said Rimi died by suicide.Father of deceased girl Pradeep Kumar, who is resident of Muzaffarpur, reached the college and lodged a case of murder of his daughter and demanded an investigation.Her father accused the college and police administration of collusion, alleging her daughter had been strangled. He said on Wednesday night, before her death, she was completely normal when he and his wife talked to her on the phone. He alleged that the college management is protecting the murder accused.SP Swarn Prabhat has constituted an SIT to probe the death of the girl student and said according to the autopsy report the cause of death is “suicide”. He further said some vital clues have been recovered from the mobile phone of the deceased and the police are investigating the case with technical support.Robin had sent a message to the girl just before the incident to which she replied positively. However, she took the drastic step thereafter, he said.
