NEW DELHI: Delhi chief minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday announced a hike in the income limit to Rs 2.5 lakh per annum for ration card eligibility in the national capital.She also said that 7.71 lakh invalid ration cards have been cancelled as part of a verification drive aimed at cleaning up the beneficiary database.The government has also invited fresh online applications from eligible residents following the revision in criteria.Officials said the move is intended to ensure that subsidised food grains under the public distribution system reach genuinely eligible households while removing ineligible beneficiaries.Further details regarding the application process and updated guidelines are expected to be issued soon.(This is a developing story)
