GMR Enterprises has strengthened its in-house legal function with the appointment of Shashank Kumar as Chief Legal Officer – Corporate. Kumar brings with him over 26 years of cross-sector legal experience spanning power, steel, renewable energy, infrastructure, and media.
Prior to joining GMR, Kumar served as Head – Legal at Sembcorp India. His career has also included senior leadership roles at Adani Power and Jindal Steel, where he led end-to-end legal operations across complex regulatory and commercial mandates.
Kumar’s core competencies include legal strategy, regulatory compliance, litigation management, M&A, and cross-border contract structuring. He has built a track record in supporting sustainable business expansion through proactive risk mitigation and governance frameworks, with a particular focus on building high-performing legal teams and driving cost-effective legal operations.
