Mumbai: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Central Railway reunited 584 people, including 499 children, and saved 25 lives through its operations on railway premises between Jan 1 and April 30.The RPF personnel also prevented accidents involving passengers boarding or deboarding moving trains, officials said.Under RPF’s “Operation Nanhe Faristey” to safeguard and rescue runaway, missing, or destitute children found on railway premises, 331 boys and 168 girls were rescued and reunited with their families or handed over to Child Welfare Committees/NGOs.During the same period, the RPF personnel reached out to 85 adults, including 47 women, who were in need of care and protection.Under “Operation Jeevan Raksha”, the RPF staff rescued 20 male and five female passengers who slipped while trying to board or deboard moving trains. The alertness and prompt action of RPF personnel helped prevent untoward incidents on multiple occasions at railway stations and save lives.Central Railway chief spokesperson Swapnil Nila said, “The RPF is not just a security force but also a compassionate arm of the Indian Railways.
