Patna: A gang of masked criminals looted jewellery, cash and other valuables worth lakhs of rupees from the house of two pharmaceutical businessmen on Bihta-Sugar Mill Road under Bihta police station area in Patna in the early hours of Sunday.The victims, Rajiv Bharti and Sanjeev Bharti, run pharmaceutical agencies in the city. According to police, the criminals reached the Bharti’s residence around 1.30am and broke open the latch of the garage’s iron gate to gain entry. They then scaled the wall and allegedly tried to disable the CCTV cameras installed on the premises, though their movements were captured on the footage.The burglars broke open cupboards and decamped with jewellery, cash and other valuables. During the incident, Sanjeev Bharti woke up and caught hold of one of the intruders, but the other robbers assaulted him before escaping through the roof.Bihta SHO Amit Kumar said preliminary investigation suggested valuables worth around Rs 3-4 lakh were stolen. In 2018, Rajiv Bharti had also survived an alleged extortion-linked firing incident.
