He said when he was close to Krishna Chowk, a speeding black Scorpio hit his two-wheeler from behind. Although he did not sustain any injuries at that point, he decided to follow the car to speak to the driver and ask him to slow down, he added. When the Scorpio stopped at a red light, the victim confronted the driver.“It was after the confrontation that the accused started abusing and threatening him. However, police said no evidence of phone snatching was found during their probe.Traffic personnel present at the signal tried to intervene during the incident. After a PCR call was made to 112, an ambulance shifted Pradeep to Civil Hospital for treatment. The victim was discharged on May 2 but when he complained of persistent swelling and severe pain in his knee, he was recommended further examination at a private hospital in Sector 5. There, doctors conducted an X-ray and MRI, which confirmed a knee injury that can only be treated through surgery, Pradeep said. The officer said charges under sections 281 (rash driving), 115 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 351(3) (criminal intimidation) of the BNS have been added to the case. “We are trying to ascertain the sequence of the events,” he said.
