Namakkal: A 19-year-old woman guest worker escaped with leg fractures after her two coworkers attempted to rape and murder her by pushing her towards the railway track as a train was fast approaching near Rasipuram in the early hours of Wednesday.The woman and the two accused were from Bihar. They were working in a private rubber factory on Attayampatti Road near Rasipuram. According to railway police sources, the woman went out with two of her coworkers around 4am. “When the three were walking along the railway tracks, the two men attempted to rape her,” said a railway police officer in Salem. The woman resisted their advances, leading to a scuffle. “In a fit of rage, the two men allegedly pushed her towards the track as a train was fast approaching. The woman, who fell on the track and suffered leg fractures, managed to roll herself away to the other side of the track before the train crossed the spot,” the officer said. Meanwhile, the men fled the scene. Hearing her cries, some passersby rushed to the spot and informed the Rasipuram police, who took her to the Rasipuram Government Hospital. She was later referred to Salem Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College and Hospital. The railway police have registered a case and began investigations.
