Mangaluru: After remaining absconding for more than three decades, an accused in an illegal petrol transportation case registered in 1992 was finally arrested by Vittal police. The accused is Siddique.The case was registered on Oct 14, 1992, at Vittal police station under Sections 3 and 23 of the Petroleum Act against Ibrahim, a resident of Manjeshwar in Kasaragod, and another accused, Siddique. Among the accused, Siddique failed to appear before the court for trial and has been absconding ever since. On Monday, a team led by probationary PSI Siddappa, along with ASI Jayaram and police personnel Gopal, Yankappa and Shreeshail Jorapur, arrested the accused at Kabbina Mole in Kanyana village.Absconding accused held after 6 years in theft caseAfter remaining absconding for six years in connection with a theft case registered at Panambur police station, an accused was arrested near Manjeshwar in Kerala and produced before the court on Monday.According to police, a case was registered in 2018 at Panambur police station under Sections 427, 457 and 380 of the IPC regarding a burglary at a mobile shop in Kudumbur, Baikampady. The accused allegedly stole mobile phones, mobile accessories, a CCTV DVR and cash worth Rs 2.1 lakh from the shop. The accused also allegedly damaged two computer monitors worth Rs 10,000.City police commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy CH stated that one of the accused, identified as Parul Hussain Laskar alias Parul, 34, a resident of Lakhipur Thana in Silchar, Cachar district of Assam was absconding for the past six years and failed to appear before the court for trial. Subsequently, the court issued an arrest warrant against him.Acting on the directions of senior officers, a police team led by inspector Mohammed Salim Abbas, along with head constables Naveen Chandra and Syed Imtiyaz, and police personnel Rakesh and Vinay, arrested the accused near Manjeshwar in Kerala. He was later produced before a court.
