Gurgaon: More than 20 men from two rival groups allegedly clashed on Southern Peripheral Road (SPR) on Friday morning, leaving several people injured and multiple vehicles damaged.Police said the incident took place around 11.30am near Sector 70 and involved groups from Kadarpur and Rithoj villages, who have a long-standing rivalry linked to alleged extortion and commission collection from a garbage dumping site in the area.According to investigators, members of both groups came face-to-face near the stretch, following which an argument escalated into a violent clash.Locals said the men attacked each other with sticks and stones and chased rivals across the road. Several vehicles parked nearby were also vandalised during the incident. Police said four cars sustained heavy damage, with their windows smashed.Locals claimed that gunshots were also fired during the clash. However, police said the allegation is still being verified. “We are checking whether any firing took place during the incident. Appropriate action will be taken if it is confirmed,” a senior police officer said.Police teams from Badshahpur police station and the SPR police post reached the spot after receiving information about the violence. Several accused fled on seeing the police, while some suspects were detained. “The detained persons are being questioned and raids are being conducted to identify and arrest others involved in the clash,” the officer said.The crime scene team later inspected the area and collected evidence. Damaged vehicles were also seized for forensic examination.Police said a case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
