Mandya: Govt schools in Mandya district have delivered an exceptional performance in this year’s SSLC examinations, a result that authorities believe will reinforce confidence in the public education system.
Of the 214 govt schools in the district, as many as 165 achieved a perfect 100% pass rate, accounting for nearly 66% of the total. The overall pass percentage among govt schools stood at an impressive 96.9%, a sharp rise from last year’s 66.8%. The significant improvement underscores sustained academic progress and the impact of focused efforts by teachers and the education department.
According to DDPI Lokesh, special coaching sessions, regular assessments, and timely academic support for weaker students played a key role in the improved performance. “This year’s results are considerably better than last year’s, owing to the collective efforts of teachers and the district administration,” he said.
Among the top achievers, Shilpashree CM of Karnataka Public School in KR Pete emerged as the topper among govt school students in the district, securing 608 marks.
Encouraged by the strong results, education authorities are optimistic about increased enrolment in the coming academic year. Officials noted that 5,261 students were enrolled in Class 1 across govt schools in the district last year, and this figure is expected to rise further. Improved infrastructure, quality teaching, and consistent academic outcomes are likely to strengthen public trust in govt institutions.
To further promote awareness about facilities and academic achievements, the department has launched the ‘Dakalathi Andolana’. Under the initiative, headmasters and principals have been tasked with reaching out to parents and local communities to encourage admissions.
