Times News NetworkChandigarh: Property dealer Chamanpreet Singh alias Chinni Kubahedi was murdered in Sector 9, Chandigarh just two days before the registry of 34 kanal land in New Chandigarh. Investigation revealed that the deceased had brokered its sale to a Landran resident for Rs 6.5 crore.A dispute arose between the accused Amreen Rai and property dealer Chinni over profit from this land deal. Amreen submitted a written complaint with the Mohali SSP regarding the matter. Following this, Amreen received a token amount of Rs 2.2 crore for the 34 kanal land, but the dispute with the property dealer was ongoing, police said.Police investigation revealed that Amreen, a resident of Sector 35, purchased eight acres of land in New Chandigarh through property dealer Chamanpreet Singh. The land deal was struck for Rs 12 crore in 2025. Amreen allegedly paid Rs 4 crore as token money. The remaining amount was to be paid after the sale of a showroom located in Sector 35. The Sector 35 showroom was to be sold for approximately Rs 28 crore, but Amreen’s father-in-law, who had a share in the showroom, refused to sell it. Following this, registry of the 8-acre land was stalled. When Amreen fell short of funds for the 8-acre land in New Chandigarh, Chinni Kubahedi brought in other property dealers to pitch in for the purchase. Out of 8 acres of land, Amreen’s share turned out to be 34 kanal. For this, Amreen paid Rs 5 crore. A few days later, Chinni sold the 34 kanal land which Amreen had paid for, to a resident of Landran for Rs 6.5 crore. Amreen came to know about this later, police claimed. After Chinni’s murder, police kept Amreen under surveillance. They questioned her multiple times before her arrest. Investigation revealed that Amreen and the property dealer first met near a gym, where they discussed the land purchase. Police attributed the murder to a property dispute as Chinni withheld information about the land deal from Amreen. MSID:: 130833296 413 |
