Prayagraj: Launching a scathing attack on the opposition camps, deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Tuesday asserted that the assembly election results in Assam & WB have proven that those who opposed the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’ have met with a disastrous fate.“Rival camps like Samajwadi Party, Congress, TMC and DMK have insulted the half of the population (women) and actively obstructed the granting of their rights. Wherever they have held power, they have engaged in the exploitation of the public, as well as caste-based politics and dynasticism. Their crushing defeat serves as a clear message to them,” he said.He further remarked that the SP chief and his supporters have effectively “retreated into their burrows”, and that the public is now laughing at Akhilesh Yadav’s statements regarding his opposition to the women’s quota bill.“It would be better for him to snap out of this shock and return to Saifai. When Akhilesh Yadav extended his support to Arvind Kejriwal, the latter was ousted. When he supported Stalin, his party was wiped out in Tamil Nadu. When he backed Mamata Banerjee in Bengal, she faced a rout. In Bihar, when he allied with Tejashwi Yadav, he had to taste defeat. Those who have opposed women’s reservation have met with a dire fate, and Akhilesh Yadav is destined to meet a fate even worse than that of the TMC or DMK,” he said.Responding to a question regarding the victory of 18 Muslim candidates from the Congress in Assam and two in West Bengal, Maurya said the Congress practises the politics of Muslim appeasement.“They do not seek the votes of the country’s Hindu majority but they insult them. They use derogatory language against Hindus and undermine their interests—and perhaps that is precisely why they secure Muslim votes,” he said.On the allegations raised by Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav against the Election Commission, the deputy CM said these outbursts merely reflect their frustration. He argued that if the BJP had indeed won the elections solely on the strength of the Election Commission, central forces and the administration, it would have secured victories in Tamil Nadu and Kerala as well. The BJP, he asserted, is dedicated to serving the public and follows the path of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’.Buoyed by the grand success of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Assam, West Bengal and Puducherry assembly polls, Maurya called party workers to gear up for 2027 UP assembly polls.Maurya also visited the home of former MP Rita Bahuguna Joshi to express his condolences on the passing away of her husband, PC Joshi.Maurya said the BJP is a family, and whenever any member of this family faces adversity or sorrow, the entire family shares that pain.Prominent leaders including Pawan Srivastava and Vivek Mishra were also present.
