Erode/Krishnagiri: Prohibition enforcement wing (PEW) police seized 28kg of ganja in two separate incidents in Erode and Krishnagiri districts and detained four men on Thursday.In the first incident at Erode railway station, PEW police detained two men on suspicion, when they held a search near the parcel office. “We seized 10kg of ganja from a bag they were carrying,” said an officer. The accused were identified as Ronald Leoni, 27, and M Afzal, 19, both from Coimbatore. Both were produced before the Erode district court and remanded in custody at the Coimbatore central prison.In the second incident at the Jujuwadi check post near Hosur in Krishnagiri district, PEW police intercepted a private bus belonging to Sri Siddhan Travels, which was heading from Bengaluru to Madurai. During a search, police found 18kg of ganja in the belongings of two passengers identified as Vishal alias Karthik, 19, and Vasantha Kumar, 20, from Arapalayam in Madurai. PEW police said the two, who worked as daily wagers, had smuggled the ganja from Bengaluru to Madurai. A case has been registered and further investigation is on.
