Hyderabad: To increase public health outreach, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Bibinagar, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, has launched a community radio station at 89.6 FM. With this, it became the first AIIMS in the country to establish such a facility.
The station will cover an approximate 10-kilometre radius around Bibinagar. It is designed to broadcast a wide range of programmes, including health awareness campaigns, disease prevention messages, expert talks and community updates. The content will focus on promoting preventive healthcare, early diagnosis and healthy lifestyle practices among the general public.
Officials said the station will also introduce interactive programmes such as “Dial a Doctor”, enabling listeners to directly engage with medical professionals and receive guidance on health concerns. A S Subathra, chairperson, Community Radio Station Operational Committee, noted that such initiatives will help bridge the gap between healthcare providers and the community.
Residents within the coverage area have been encouraged to tune in regularly to benefit from accurate and accessible medical information.
