Ghaziabad: Three constables were assaulted by a group of people after they stopped youths from bursting firecrackers in Nandgram.According to the FIR, a resident called Dial 112 around 2am on Thursday to complain about firecrackers being burst at Mount Green Farmhouse in Raj Nagar Extension. A PRV team reached the spot and found around 25 youths bursting crackers. When the cops tried to stop them, the group overpowered and thrashed them.The constables involved in the attack said that the group of around 20 to 25 youths began verbally abusing and assaulting them, even attempting to tear their uniforms and issuing death threats.“We made considerable efforts to calm them down. However, they overpowered us and began punching and kicking us. Information about the incident was provided to Nandgram police station. By the time more force arrived at the scene, those people had fled,” said Kamruddin, one of the constables.The other two constables were identified as Bharat Sharma and Jai Kumar. All three are deployed at 112 PRV.ACP Nandgram Ziauddin Ahmad said that an FIR has been registered against 25 unknown persons under sections 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 351(3) (criminal intimidation), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 132 (assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from the discharge of his duty), 191(2) (rioting) and 125(b) (grievous hurt by an act endangering the life or personal safety of others) of the BNS at Nandgram police station.“Several teams have been formed to nab the accused and we are also trying to identify the people. We are also checking the CCTV cameras of the farmhouse and nearby areas. We will check if there was negligence on part of the farmhouse owner and his staff, following which action will also be taken against the operator,” the ACP added.Recently, the DCP and ACP held a meeting with marriage hall and farmhouse operators in the city, instructing them to have wedding processions join from only 500m away from the wedding venue to avoid traffic jams, ensure proper parking arrangements, keep CCTV cameras functional, and not allow firing. They were also instructed to keep music and fireworks at a low pace past 10pm.
