Salem: A woman and her minor son were murdered in Karuthanur near Omalur on Thursday night.Police identified the deceased as R Sathya, 33, Kishanth, 10, from Karuthanur. Sathya had separated from her husband Rajkumar and was working at a private TV showroom in Omalur.The accused has been identified as Sakthivel, 35, from the same locality.Preliminary inquiry revealed that Sakthivel who was acquainted to Sathya, entered the house and assaulted the woman and her son with a sickle,” said a police official from Omalur station. Sakthivel later died by suicide and police retrieved the body from his house.Meanwhile, Kishanth died on the way to the Omalur Government Hospital, while Sathya succumbed to injuries at the Salem Government Hospital.A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
