Namakkal: At least 80 contract staff with the Namakkal Govt Medical College and Hospital were terminated from their jobs on Saturday for breach of contract terms. They subsequently staged a protest in front of the hospital, seeking the contractor to reconsider the decision to dismiss them from their jobs. According to an official source, the staff in question were supplied by Krystal Integrated Services Limited, which terminated them from their jobs for ending their work two hours short, taking unauthorized leave, disrupting work and not marking digital attendance. “At least 74 of them were cleaning staff and the remaining four were security personnel.”The source said the contractor had posted reasons for terminating the contract workers on the hospital notice board. Police were deployed on the hospital premises for security purposes. They pacified the dismissed contract staff and advised them to proceed legally. The workers, who said they were terminated without any prior warning, subsequently withdrew the protest.B Ramu, manager, Krystal Integrated Services Limited, said the workers were terminated for breach of contract. “They were venting their anger against us on the patients by neglecting their requirements.”
