Balurghat: At least eight women who had recently given birth fell ill after they were allegedly administered an injection at Balurghat District Hospital on Friday. Chief medical officer Dr Sudip Das said the patients were stable. The incident comes months after a woman died after she was administered saline at Midnapore Medical College and Hospital.Pintu Das and Somen Das — husbands of two of the women — said their wives were doing well after delivery, but once they were given an injection in the afternoon, the women started shivering and developed high fever. Some of the new mothers had to be moved to the CCU. “There must have been something wrong with the injection. But doctors assured us and my wife is quite stable now,” Somen said.
