Bhubaneswar: Eight tribal students from Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) in Odisha have been selected for specialised JEE Advanced coaching under the National Education Society for Tribal Students (NESTS), New Delhi, following their performance in JEE Main 2026 (Phase-I). In the recently announced results, 11 EMRS students from the state qualified in the national-level engineering entrance exam. The selected students include three each from EMRS Karanjia and EMRS Lahunipara, and one each from EMRS Ranki and EMRS Bhangriposi. Avish Alam from EMRS Karanjia secured an impressive 97.50 percentile. Other candidates include Rinkirani Naik, Sunil Kumar Naik and Sunia Hembram from EMRS Ranki; Samu Paleya from EMRS Karanjia; Estiphan Hembram, Pujarani Kisan, Deepa Kisan, Rabin Oram and Salkhu Hembram from EMRS Lahunipara; and Thakur Murmu from EMRS Bhangriposi. EMRS Lahunipara recorded the highest number of qualifiers, with five students clearing JEE Main. Pranati Patro, joint director of Odisha Model Tribal Education Society, said the state and NESTS are facilitating advanced coaching for eight students and the measure is aimed at empowering tribal students by providing them with access to quality education and competitive opportunities.
