Alwar: A seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped while watching a wedding procession in a village under Kaulari police station limits of Dholpur district Thursday night. Police have registered a case Friday under relevant sections of the POCSO Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against an unidentified accused and initiated an investigation.According to police, two wedding processions had arrived in the village when the accused allegedly lured the child with betel nut and toffee and took her to a dilapidated house, where the assault took place. A woman reportedly saw the accused taking the girl and alerted an elderly villager. By the time they reached the spot, the accused had fled, while the girl was found injured.
Dholpur circle officer Khalil Ahmad Khilji said a case has been registered against the unknown accused under sections of the POCSO Act and BNS. He said the girl’s medical examination has been conducted by the medical board and a team of doctors at the district hospital is taking care of her. Khilji added preliminary investigation suggests the possibility of the accused being a wedding guest, but the identity of the accused has not been established yet. Police said they are taking help of wedding videos and photos to identify the accused. “The accused will be identified and arrested soon,” said Khilji.
