Patna: More than 60 police personnel posted at the police line in Banka fell ill after consuming lunch on Friday. The affected personnel were immediately rushed to the sadar hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.The personnel ate fried rice and chana for lunch, after which they began experiencing symptoms of food poisoning, including vomiting and diarrhoea.Banka DM Navdeep Shukla and SP Upendra Nath Verma visited the hospital to assess the situation and directed doctors to provide the best possible treatment to the affected personnel. Officials said an investigation had been ordered to determine the cause of the incident.According to preliminary information, the jawans at the police line ate fried rice and chana-chhola for lunch. Soon after eating, several jawans began feeling unwell. Gradually, many others also started complaining of vomiting and diarrhoea. A medical team was immediately called to the spot.“During the investigation, it is suspected that there may have been adulteration with some toxic substance in the chana. The food poisoning incident may have occurred due to sulphas tablets getting mixed into the chana. However, no report came out yet. Food samples were also collected for investigation,” the superintendent of police said.At present, the police and the administration are investigating the entire matter. Efforts are being made to find out how the contamination occurred in the food.
