BENGALURU: Six persons, including three women on pilgrimage and three men travelling in a mini goods vehicle, were killed in two separate road accidents in Devanahalli and Medahalli since Saturday night. What began as a spiritual journey to Kashi ended in heartbreak, as three women lost their lives after a speeding truck hit their Tempo Traveller (TT). Based on the preliminary investigation, police said a group of 12 people from Tiptur in Tumakuru district had set out on a 15-day pilgrimage, heading to Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) to catch an early morning flight to Kashi. Travelling in a TT vehicle, they left Tiptur around 10 pm. After reaching Devanahalli, the driver relied on Google Maps to navigate the route. However, near Rani Cross in Devanahalli, tragedy struck. The TT vehicle reportedly missed the correct service road turn and moved ahead. While attempting a U-turn at the next junction, a speeding truck collided with the TT. The impact was devastating—crushing the front left side of the TT vehicle and killing three women on the spot. The deceased have been identified as Jayamma (60), Yashodamma (60), and Ganga (38). Another woman, identified as Kempamma, sustained serious injuries and was shifted to a nearby hospital. In total, eight persons, including the driver, were injured and were initially treated at a private hospital in Devanahalli. The force of the crash left parts of the TT vehicle mangled. The truck driver fled the scene soon after the accident. Devanahalli traffic police rushed to the spot, conducted an inspection, and shifted the bodies to the mortuary. In a separate incident near Medahalli on Saturday midnight, three men travelling in a Tata Ace mini goods vehicle died after crashing into a truck parked on the roadside due to a flat tyre. The driver and two occupants identified as Manikanta, Suresh and Srinivas died on the spot. The mini goods vehicle was transporting potatoes from Kolar to Bengaluru. The deceased persons are residents of the Whitefield area. Due to the impact of the accident, the front part of the mini goods vehicle was mangled.
