Chandigarh: UT police have booked seven immigration firms in separate cases for allegedly duping multiple victims of nearly Rs 66 lakh on the pretext of arranging visas and overseas placements.Cases were registered across police stations in Sectors 17, 34 and 36 following complaints from victims in Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh. Police said the accused took large sums but neither processed visas nor returned the money.In Sector 17, an FIR was filed against Deepak Sharma, Satnam and others of Shri Ram Overseas for allegedly cheating a Mohali resident of Rs 17 lakh. Another case names Honey Tandon of Sunlight Immigration for a Rs 13.75 lakh fraud.Visa Capital owner Iqbal Singh Sandhu and associates have been booked in two separate cases for allegedly duping Rs 7.52 lakh and Rs 9.70 lakh from victims in Sector 56 and Himachal Pradesh.In another case, Manpreet Singh of Finland Immigration is accused of cheating a Patiala resident of Rs 4.10 lakh. Sector 34 police have also booked Gurinder Singh of Eagle-Eye Advisor in a Rs 7.23 lakh fraud.Separately, Sector 36 police registered a case against Rajdeep and Shaily Sharma of Angad Info Overseas Consultancy Pvt Ltd for allegedly duping a Sangrur resident of Rs 6.66 lakh.Police said further investigation is under way.
