Kolkata: Kolkata Police registered a theft case after store officials at Urbana residential complex in Anandapur reported that electrical and plumbing materials, worth Rs 6.6 lakh, were stolen from a locked basement storeroom.An FIR was recorded at the Anandapur Police Station on March 5 under Section 305(a) of BNS following a complaint lodged by Debajyati Nandi, senior vice-president of Urbana. According to the complaint, the incident came to light a few days ago when Debendu Chanda, stores officer, and Gokul Munda, store assistant, went to the central basement stores in the basement. The two found the lock of the storeroom door tampered with. After opening the door, they found boxes emptied of CP fittings and filters, electrical and plumbing items and other related materials, which were stored inside.After a detailed inspection and verification, the total value of the stolen materials was calculated to be Rs 6,61,885. Police said they had sought CCTV footage. Not ruling out an insider’s hand, police are matching tower locations of a few suspects.
