Bokaro: Giridih police on Tuesday arrested three alleged fraudsters and seized mobile phones used in online scams.The arrested accused were identified as Ashish Mandal, Ranjit Mandal and Rameshwar Mandal alias Ramesh Mandal, all natives of Giridih.Giridih SP Bimal Kumar said, “Acting on inputs received on the Pratibimb portal, a team led by DSP (Cyber) Abid Khan conducted a raid at Badkitand–Jabardaha road under the Taratand police station and arrested the three accused. Four mobile phones and five SIM cards were seized from their possession.”“Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused allegedly sent fake APK files in the name of various banks and posed as bank officials to cheat unsuspecting victims. Three online complaints were traced to a mobile number used by Ranjit. Ramesh had earlier been jailed in connection with a cyber fraud case registered at Jamtara Cyber Police Station,” said the SP.Ramesh is wanted in 26 cyber fraud cases, police said.In Deoghar district, two cybercriminals were arrested from Bhura forest area within Patharadda outpost limits on Monday.Deoghar DSP (Cyber)Raja Mitra said the duo was arrested following a tip-off that some individuals were involved in luring people over phone calls under the pretext of being bank officials and customer care executives. Two mobile phones and three SIM cards have been recovered from their possession.
