Patna: The Patna police, probing the suspicious death of an Intermediate student near AIIMS Golambar, on Tuesday conducted a scientific reconstruction of the incident, during which four dummies matching the girl’s weight were dropped from different angles by the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team to analyse the circumstances of her fall. The incident occurred on Feb 12, when the girl entered the premises of a multi-storey building in the Phulwarisharif police station area around 7.45am. She was supposed to attend coaching classes on the first floor. However, CCTV footage showed her going upstairs, following two youths who were also seen ascending the stairs. Around 8.12am, she fell from the top floor of the five-storey building. Her family alleged that she was murdered and pushed from the building, pointing to multiple injuries on her body as signs of a struggle.City SP (West) Bhanu Pratap Singh said following the incident, a special investigation team (SIT) was constituted under the leadership of SDPO I of Phulwarisharif, comprising investigators from other police stations as well. “As part of the ongoing investigation, the crime scene was recreated on Tuesday. Four dummies matching the girl’s weight were dropped from different angles by FSL. We will take expert opinion on what conditions might have existed at that time, and when we receive the report, we will share it publicly,” he said.Explaining the significance of the exercise, Singh added, “This is very effective. When the police recreate a crime scene, they learn about the circumstances — whether there was a single impact, multiple injury impact, whether she was pushed, or other such things. Police will learn about these aspects. With the help of expert agency opinion, we will then complete our investigation.”He stressed the necessity of scientific reconstruction in view of ambiguities in the post-mortem findings, including no confirmed sexual assault, and the need to establish whether the fall was accidental or involved external force. “Clarity on this will come only when things are clarified scientifically and based on evidence. Expert analysis from the reconstruction results will guide the final investigation outcome,” he said.
