Nagpur: Classical music lovers in the city will be treated to an evening of melody and tradition as third edition of the late Pt Mahadeorao Khadse Smruti Sangeet Samaroh will be organised on March 15. The evening, dedicated to memory of renowned shehnai exponent Mahadeorao Khadse, will feature a sitar-santoor duet by the Wahane sisters, Sanskrati and Prakrati, disciples of Dr Lokesh Wahane and Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan. The jugalbandi is expected to blend tonal depth of the sitar with delicate resonance of santoor, promising a rich experience.Pt Khadse began learning shehnai at a young age under guidance of his father, Hangulji Khadse, and later trained under noted gurus of Hindustani classical music. He performed widely and was honoured with several accolades during his lifetime.The event will also include a solo shehnai recital by Nagpur-based artiste Nikhil Khadse, who is continuing musical lineage associated with Khadse family. Tabla accompaniment will be provided by Ram Khadse. The tribute is organised by NaadChakra Sanstha in association with Chitnavis Centre for Culture and Human Resource Development at Banyan Hall in Civil Lines. Entry to the event is free. Several personalities, including senior sitarist Avaneendra Sheolikar, adv Gaurav Belsare, Mahesh Bang and Rachana Popatkar will attend. Dr Pragati Waghmare will compere the programme.
