Buldhana: Three children from the same family died following suspected food poisoning in Dhad village in Buldhana district on Monday, raising concerns over food safety in rural areas.Police said the exact cause of death will be confirmed after postmortem reports are received, though preliminary findings point to consumption of contaminated food or ice cream.The incident occurred in Tavakkal Nagar on Buldhana Road, where the family of Mohammad Wasim resides. The deceased have been identified as Ali (4), Masira (7), and Fatima (10). Two other family members — a 12-year-old girl and a 30-year-old woman — are undergoing treatment at a hospital and are reported to be stable.According to police, the family had attended a wedding function on the night of April 4, where they consumed food and ice cream. Soon after returning home, several members developed symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhoea, and abdominal pain.Their condition worsened overnight, leading to their admission at rural hospital in Dhad the next morning. Though they initially responded to treatment and were discharged, their health deteriorated again later in the day. They were subsequently shifted to a hospital in Buldhana for further treatment. Two children died at the Dhad facility, while the third succumbed at a private hospital in Buldhana.Station house officer Pratap Bhose said a case has been registered and an investigation is underway. “Food samples and medical records are being examined to ascertain the exact cause,” he said.
