Amritsar: City police on Sunday claimed to have busted two cross-border arms and drug smuggling modules, arresting six accused and recovering six sophisticated pistols and 3.5 kg heroin from their possession, police commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said.Those arrested were identified as Karan Singh (26), Gurpreet Singh (22), Rakesh (26) and Chamkor Singh (23), all residents of Khemkaran in Tarn Taran district, and Makhandeen (22) and Jasbir Singh (19) from Amritsar.Police recovered three PX 5.7×28 mm Tisas (Turkey) pistols, two .30 bore pistols and one 9 mm pistol along with 60 live cartridges. Bhullar said the PX 5.7×28 mm Tisas series pistols are among the latest weapons and are rarely recovered. Preliminary investigation revealed links between the arrested accused and Pakistan-based smugglers who supplied arms and narcotics near the Indo-Pak border using drones.
