Hyderabad: Telangana experienced a second spell of unseasonal rain on Monday, with showers reported in several districts, bringing temporary relief from the rising heat.According to the Telangana Development Planning Society, the highest rainfall in the state was recorded at 55.8 mm in Palvatla village of Watpally mandal in Sangareddy district. Other notable rainfall areas include 28 mm in Narsapur of Medak district, 25 mm in Gummadidala of Sangareddy district, and 19.5 mm in Manoor in the same district. Several locations in Kamareddy and Medak districts also recorded light to moderate rainfall. The state witnessed a wet spell in late Feb, causing increased humidity. Monday’s sudden showers, however, helped ease heat conditions that had intensified over the past few days, offering temporary respite to residents. Unseasonal rains accompanied by strong winds and hail stones lashed several parts of the erstwhile Medak district in the evening. In Hyderabad region, light showers were reported in many areas under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits. The highest rainfall in the city was 3.3 mm, recorded at Old Sultan Nagar community hall and ESS Balanagar in Balanagar circle. Other localities including Alwal, Moosapet, Bowenpally and Asifnagar recorded light rainfall ranging between 1 mm and 2.8 mm. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department has forecast light to moderate rain or thundershowers at isolated places across Telangana over the next few days. Maximum temperatures are expected to gradually fall by 2-4 degree Celsius during this period. The department also issued a warning of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning at isolated places in districts including Adilabad, Asifabad, Mancherial, Peddapalli, Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanumakonda, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy and Mahbubnagar.
