THANE: Residents from Diva, Mumbra, Kalwa, along with Rupadevi Pada, Kisan Nagar No. 2, Nehru Nagar in the Wagle Estate ward, and Kolshet villages near Majiwada, will face water cuts for 24 hours starting 12 PM, Thursday, 22 May 2025. The cuts have been necessitated as the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation will undergo essential maintenance and repair work at its Jambhul Water Treatment Plant. The work is crucial and has to be undertaken ahead of the monsoon season, said officials. Accordingly, the Thane Corporation has appealed to residents to store water in advance, considering the supply is expected to continue at low pressure for some time after the maintenance and repair work ends Friday afternoon. Meanwhile, residents claimed the administration should work out a proper solution to the recurring water scarcity being faced by citizens of Thane suburbs. “Every week, we face some kind of curtailment in water supply and are forced to rely on the costly tanker water supply. This has to stop and the administration should work out a permanent solution instead of causing weekly inconvenience to lakhs of consumers here,” said an irate Diva resident.Key highlights
