Gandhinagar: In the past two years, 24 hospitals in Ahmedabad district, which recovered medical charges from Ayushman card holders, were issued notices and penalised, the govt said in the assembly on Thursday.In a written reply to a question by Congress MLA Imran Khedawala, the govt said that 24 PMJAY-empanelled hospitals in Ahmedabad city and district, which sought hospitalisation charges from Ayushman card holders, were issued notices. A fine of Rs 36.84 lakh was recovered from these hospitals, the govt said.Last month, in the ongoing budget session of the assembly, the govt said that 49 hospitals empanelled under the Govt of India’s Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) were suspended in the past two years for various irregularities.While the suspension of 20 was revoked, 29 continued to be barred from admitting patients under the scheme. MoS health Praful Pansheriya provided this information during a discussion on a question by Congress MLA Amit Chavda, stating that strict action is being taken against hospitals found violating the scheme’s rules and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
