Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister’s Student Talent Award, comprising a purse of Rs 1 lakh and a certificate for 2,000 academically brilliant students from economically disadvantaged families, would be presented at a function at Govt Women’s College here on Tuesday.Higher education minister R Bindu here on Monday said cash awards are being given to candidates who graduated from various universities in the state during 2022-23 and 2023-24 academic years. Govt initiated the award in 2021-22 academic year.“Awards are given based on highest marks achieved in various study subjects at each university. It is the first of its kind implemented by a govt in the country,” Bindu said. The programme selects 1,000 students each year with an annual family income of less than Rs 2.5 lakh.
