Rajkot: A 20-year-old man from Rajkot was arrested in Hyderabad for allegedly posting objectionable and abusive comments against Gujarat deputy chief minister Harsh Sanghavi amid the social media storm relating to the Iran-Israel conflict. Asif Kundha (20), a resident of Rasulpara area in Rajkot, allegedly posted messages supporting Iran’s supreme leader and made abusive and objectionable remarks against Sanghavi on social media. After the post, a case was registered against Kundha at CID Cybercrime police station in Gandhinagar under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita dealing with promoting enmity between religions and making false statements through electronic means that can disturb public order. ACP (Cybercrime) Chintan Patel told TOI that technical surveillance revealed that Kundha was in Hyderabad. A team from Rajkot City Cybercrime police travelled there and arrested him. The investigation revealed that in 2025, Kundha allegedly stole Rs 1.5 lakh in cash from a friend’s house. Although he initially confessed to the theft, the complainant did not file a police complaint at that time. When he failed to return the money later, a case was registered against him at Rajkot Taluka police station. Cybercrime police inspector J M Kaila said that after the theft, Kundha had been living in Hyderabad for nearly 10 months. He initially worked as a bus conductor was employed as a housekeeping worker at a hotel for the past month. Three days ago, Kundha also posted a video apologizing for his remarks.
