Ahmedabad: In a crackdown on organized crime, the city crime branch on Monday arrested two notorious fugitives from Kota, Rajasthan, following a high-risk, seven-hour operation.Police said the duo, associated with the Ravi Godara gang, had recently entered Gujarat with the aim of expanding their criminal network and launching extortion activities in Ahmedabad.The arrested accused were identified as Aman Saiyad (25), a resident of Bakra Mandi, Sajid Eda area under Kishorpura police station in Kota, and Suhaib Pathan (26), a resident of Patanpol area under Ketuni Pol police station in Kota.According to the crime branch, both men have a long criminal history, with more than 20 offences registered against them in Rajasthan. These include cases of organized extortion, attempted murder, targeted shootings, and violations under the Arms Act. Investigators said the duo recently aligned themselves with the Ravi Godara gang and were tasked with identifying potential targets in Ahmedabad to set up an extortion module.Acting on specific human intelligence inputs, crime branch teams placed the suspects under discreet surveillance after learning about their movement in the city. The operation escalated into a prolonged chase as the accused attempted to evade arrest by frequently changing locations. After nearly seven hours of coordinated tracking and tactical manoeuvring, the teams managed to corner and apprehend both suspects without any injuries.Senior officials said the timely action prevented the gangsters from establishing a foothold in the city. “The objective was to intercept them before they could execute any crime or intimidate local businessmen,” an officer said. The crime branch initiated coordination with Rajasthan police. After completion of preliminary legal procedures in Ahmedabad, the accused will be handed over to Kota police for further investigation and production before court.
