An officer from the Kamshet police said a group of youths from Vadeshwar and neighbouring villages were going to Visapur fort on 10 motorcycles to bring the Shiv Jyot, along with a pickup truck . “When they reached Naigaon on the Pune-Mumbai highway around 1 am on Friday, the hatchback car going towards Pune jumped the median. It first hit a car in the opposite lane and then knocked the duo’s motorcycle,” the officer said. He said Arde and Shinde suffered severe injuries in the accident. Their friends immediately took them to a nearby hospital, where the doctor declared them dead. They also took the injured occupants of the hatchback car to the hospital. No one in the other car suffered injuries in the accident. “Prima facie investigations revealed that the hatchback car driver lost control because of high speed and jumped the median. We registered a case of causing death due to negligence. Our investigations are on,” he said.
