Chatra: Two men were killed, and another was critically injured when their motorcycle was hit by a vehicle on the Hazaribag Road under Itkhori police station limits early on Saturday.Mithilesh Bhuiyan, Pankaj Bhuiyan and Neeraj Kumar Bhuiyan, all aged 23 years, were returning to their homes in Silad and Duna villages from a friend’s wedding 20 kilometres away when their bike was hit by a vehicle from the opposite direction around 1:30 am. The incident took place near Karni village.The impact of the collision threw them off the bike. It was, however, not clear whether the men were wearing helmets when the accident occurred.Mithilesh was killed on the spot while Pankaj succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital.Neeraj was admitted to Sheikh Bhikari Medical College and Hospital in a critical condition. Abhishek Kumar Singh, officer-in-charge of Itkhori police station, said the bodies of Mithilesh and Pankaj were handed over to their families after postmortem examination at Chatra sadar hospital.“It appears to be a case of a road accident caused by an unidentified vehicle. We are talking to the locals and trying to identify the vehicle involved,” Singh said.An FIR was yet to be registered in connection with the accident till late evening.
