Hyderabad: Two Intermediate students drowned while washing themselves in a lake after celebrating Holi with friends at Suraram on Tuesday. Police and Disaster Response Force (DRF) personnel fished out the bodies and sent them for post-mortem.The deceased were identified as Sagar and Abhishek, both 17- year olds, from Vishwakarma Colony in Suraram. They were students of Govt Junior College in Bahadurpally.
On Tuesday afternoon, the two teenagers, along with three friends, celebrated Holi in their neighbourhood. After the celebration, they went to Panthulu Cheruvu in Vishwakarma Colony.“While washing themselves and playing in the water, Sagar and Abhishek went deeper into the lake and drowned around 2.30pm,” Suraram inspector S Sudhir Krishna said.Alerted by their friends, locals reached the spot and called police. With the help of DRF personnel, police fished out the bodies in the evening. The bodies were shifted to Gandhi Hospital for autopsy.A case was registered under Section 194 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
