Chandigarh: The Counter Intelligence, Amritsar, has busted a narcotics smuggling module with the arrest of two operatives and recovered 7 kg heroin from their possession, Punjab director general of police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said here on Wednesday.The accused have been identified as Inderjeet Singh, a resident of Kalsian Khurd in Tarn Taran, and Ravinder Sharma, a resident of Gurbaksh Nagar, Nawan Kot, in Amritsar. The police teams also impounded a Maruti Suzuki Brezza car and a Hero Passion motorcycle, which the accused used for transporting the consignment, the DGP said.The DGP said acting on a tip-off about a major heroin delivery near Adda Bohru on the Amritsar–Jhabal road, police set up checkpoints and intercepted the two suspects. During the search, 4 kg of heroin was recovered from beneath the driver’s seat of Inderjeet Singh’s car, while 3 kg was recovered from Ravinder Sharma, the official said.A case was registered under the sections of the NDPS Act at State Special Operation Cell police station, Amritsar.Ends MSID:: 129805704 413 |
