Nagpur: Two brothers running a popular dairy outlet in Old Kamptee were arrested late Friday night for allegedly depositing 38 counterfeit Rs500 currency notes worth Rs19,000 into their bank account.The incident came to light when bank officials spotted the brothers, Ashwin Yadav and Arun, in CCTV footage while depositing Rs51,000 on July 31, 2025, at an ATM at Garur Chowk in Kamptee. No FIR was filed at the time but the notes were sent for expert analysis. The New Kamptee police station arrested the brothers following confirmation from the Reserve Bank of India‘s currency verification unit in Nashik.A senior police officer said authorities are probing whether the brothers knowingly circulated the fake notes or fell victim to a counterfeit racket. Transaction records, customer lists, and potential links to other incidents are under scrutiny.
