Mandya: Nineteen passengers were injured after a KSRTC bus travelling from Bengaluru to Virajpet met with an accident on the service road of the Bengaluru-Mysuru National Highway on Wednesday. The mishap occurred near K Kodihalli in Maddur taluk when the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle. The bus veered off the road and crashed into an underpass bridge, triggering panic among the passengers.Residents and passers-by rushed to the spot and helped shift the injured to Maddur General Hospital. Hospital authorities said that except for Jayamma, 50, from Channapatna, who sustained head injuries, the remaining 18 passengers suffered minor injuries and were reported to be out of danger.
Police personnel from Maddur Traffic police station visited the spot, conducted an inspection, and initiated preliminary inquiries to determine the cause of the accident.The incident led to heavy traffic congestion on the service road, with vehicles piling up for nearly 1km. Traffic police later cleared the damaged bus and regulated vehicle movement, restoring normal flow within a short period. A case has been registered at Maddur Traffic police station, and further investigation is under way.
