Ludhiana: The Dehlon police have booked approximately seventeen individuals for allegedly attacking a Canada-based Non-Resident Indian (NRI) over a long-standing land dispute. The complainant, Jasvir Singh, stated that he had recently returned to his village to resolve a persistent disagreement with his neighbors regarding agricultural property. Local sources suggest that although the village panchayat had previously settled the matter, the opposing party allegedly refused the decision and harbored a grudge.According to the complaint, Jasvir Singh was alone at home during the night of the incident when an armed mob suddenly arrived. The assailants reportedly broke open the main gate to gain forceful entry. The sight of the group carrying sharp-edged weapons frightened Singh, prompting him to lock himself inside a room for safety. Upon failing to reach the complainant, the attackers allegedly vandalized the household, causing significant property damage and creating an atmosphere of intense fear.Following the ordeal, Singh immediately alerted the Dehlon police. Based on his formal statement, a case has been registered against Baldev Singh, Naib Singh, and approximately 15 unidentified accomplices under various legal sections. Investigating officer Jagjit Singh confirmed that the probe is currently ongoing, with police conducting multiple raids to apprehend the accused individuals involved in the violent confrontation.
