Mangaluru: As many as 14 python eggs discovered near the residence of Harish Chandra Gowda at Moodur Mandekolu in Sullia last month successfully hatched after 35 days of careful artificial incubation. Due to the timely intervention by wildlife rescuer Snake Tejas and the forest department, all 14 hatchlings emerged healthy and were released into the wild on Thursday in the Sullia forest range.Snake Tejas said he received a call from the forest department on May 12, regarding the presence of a python in the area. While the department was monitoring the snake, some disturbance in the locality forced it to shift location. The eggs were eventually relocated for safety and placed under Tejas’s care for incubation. This is not Tejas’s first rescue success. Last year, 38 hatchlings were similarly rescued and safely released into their natural habitat. Range forest officer Manjunath N and deputy RFO Sandeep K were present during the release of the hatchlings.
