Ranchi: Construction on the Kantatoli–Siramtoli connecting flyover picked up pace, with focus shifting to ramp development, utility relocation and clearance of structures falling within the project alignment. The flyover is a key traffic infrastructure project aimed at improving connectivity and easing congestion between two of Ranchi’s busiest junctions.Officials said progress depends largely on timely relocation of utilities such as power lines, water pipelines and communication cables, along with clearance of buildings and shops falling within the alignment. Deputy municipal commissioner Gautam Prasad Sahu said municipal properties are being addressed to facilitate construction.
“Twelve shops falling under Ranchi Municipal Corporation land are coming within the flyover alignment. These shops will be removed within a week so that the flyover work can be completed at the earliest,” Sahu said. The Kantatoli flyover, which connects the Ranchi railway station area to the eastern parts of the city, was conceived to streamline vehicular movement at one of the city’s most congested intersections. The Siramtoli flyover, meanwhile, is designed to ease traffic flow towards Doranda, Hinoo and Airport Road. Together, the two elevated corridors are expected to function as a seamless traffic link, reducing travel time and pressure on surface roads. The construction is scheduled to be over in July this year.Deputy commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri recently reviewed the status of land acquisition, utility shifting and traffic management related to the Kantatoli–Siramtoli connecting flyover. He emphasised coordinated action among all concerned departments to ensure that pending works, particularly ramp construction and relocation of utilities, are completed in a time-bound manner to avoid delays.“The Kantatoli–Siramtoli connecting flyover is an extremely important project for the city’s traffic system, and completing it within the stipulated timeline is a priority for the district administration,” Bhajantri said. The flyover project was planned with the objective of easing congestion, improving traffic safety and providing smoother connectivity between central Ranchi and adjoining areas. However, traffic congestion continues at Kantatoli and Siramtoli during peak hours as construction progresses in phases.
