Chandrapur: A nearly 300-year-old Mahashivling in Bhiwapur ward was at the centre of Mahashivaratri celebrations in Chandrapur, with 108 couples performing Maha arti on Sunday morning. The Mahashivling, placed not in a proper temple but at a fenced site, is regarded as one of Maharashtra’s largest Shivling. The atmosphere resonated with Vedic chants and cries of ‘Har Har Mahadev’ as devotees gathered in large numbers to witness the sacred ritual.MLA Kishor Jorgewar attended the ceremony along with his wife. Those who attended the rituals included former National OBC Commission chairman Hansraj Ahir, religious leader Manish Maharaj, and BJP leader Ashok Jivtode.
